Scope and Contents
Volume of medical and surgical cases presented to students by faculty members at the clinic and hospital of
Jefferson Medical College and staff at Pennsylvania Hospital, 30 Sept. 1848 to 14 Feb. 1849. Entries contain
name and age of patient with description of the ailment and notes on treatment or prescription. There are
occasional follow-up studies of certain patients. Index to subjects included. Physicians presenting cases are:
Robley Dunglison, George Fox, W. W. Gerhard, Charles D. Meigs, John Kearsley Mitchell, Thomas D. Mütter,
George W. Norris, Joseph Pancoast, Edward Peace, and George Bacon Wood.
