Ernest A. Spiegel, M.D., was an Austrian-born internationally
recognized neurologist. He emigrated to the United States in 1930,
where he spent much of his career at Temple University School of
Medicine in Philadelphia. He finished his career at the National
Parkinson FOundation in Miami. Spiegel is well-known for his work
in developing the stereotactic technique. He passed away in 1985. The

of subjects, 1841-1848, with a few related letters and testimonials,
from physicians applying to the Board of Naval Surgeons, for
entrance into or promotion in the U.S. Navy. The Board appears

Evelyn Matthews Cook Bauerle was born in 1910 in Rahway Union, New Jersey. She graduated from Ursinus College in 1930, majoring in chemistry and biology, and assisted Benjamin Gruskin in setting up his new research lab at Temple Medical School, running most of tests summarized in Gruskin’s published articles.
